ACB raid IAS “Neeraj K Pawan” – News
On
Wednesday, May 18, 2016, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Rajasthan raided
the residence and office of IAS officer Neeraj K Pawan and three other officers
in response to a complaint of irregularities in the NRHM tendering process.
The raid is
taking place at 15 locations, including the officers' homes and offices, said
IG ACB Dinesh MN. He stated that there
was a report of anomalies in the tendering process against Niraj K Pawan while
he was the Additional Director for the National Rural Health Mission.
Pawan, a
2003 batch IAS officer, is now working as a commissioner in the Agriculture
Department. Others who are on the ACB's radar include the Additional Director,
Accounts Officer, and storekeeper at the NRHM office while Pawan was deployed
there, he claimed.
Three other
employees of the health department, Additional Director Anil Kumar Agarwal,
Chief Accountant Deepa Gupta, and Storekeeper Joji Varghese are also accused in
the case.
The ACB
conducted raids on 18 places in Jaipur and one in Bharatpur. The ACB seized
$4100 and Rs 2.5 lakh cash from Neeraj Kumar Pawan's home. Soni's three bank
lockers were also checked.
Singh
reported that around 50 liquor bottles of foreign and Indian origin were
recovered from Pawan's home. He stated that a second complaint under the Excise
Act had been filed with the police.
High Court: What happened to Neeraj K
Pawan after the ACB raid?
IAS Neeraj K
Pawan, the MD of the National Health Mission, was caught and imprisoned in a
corruption case. Following Neeraj's detention, many individuals from other
areas where he was assigned expressed their support for him and asked the High
Court to free him as soon as possible. Neeraj K Pawan was granted bail in
January 2017, eight months after his arrest.
On Friday, a
solitary High Court bench awarded relief to IAS official Neeraj K Pawan and urged
that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) not take any disciplinary action against
him in the seven-year-old fraud and corruption case.
The court
ruled that no disciplinary action should be taken against the petitioner based
on the ACB letter dated March 14. The ACB had written to Pawan, the Health
Department's then-Mission Director, requesting that he appear before it on
March 23 and deliver a charge sheet in the matter. The petitioner learned on
February 25 via a publication that the Central Government had approved
prosecution against him.
“Neeraj
supporters claim that he was falsely accused of being part of a plot. The
matter is now pending before the court.”
